CANARY WOOD or
CANOE WOOD

LATIN: Centrolobium is a genus of legume in the Fabaceae family, and was recently assigned to the informal monophyletic Pterocarpus clade of the Dalbergieae OR Liriodendron is a genus of two species of characteristically large deciduous trees in the magnolia family (Magnoliaceae).
These trees are widely known by the common name tulip tree or tulip tree for their large flowers superficially resembling tulips. The Latin Liriodendron actually means "lily tree",.[3] The tulip tree is sometimes referred to as "tulip poplar" or "yellow poplar", and the wood simply as "poplar", although Liriodendron is not closely related to the true poplars, but is more closely related to magnolia trees. The tree is also called canoe wood, saddle-leaf tree, and white wood.
Canary wood typically has a yellowish color with streaks of orange red and even white and black. Often used when making fine wood pens
The name canoe wood probably refers to the tree's use for construction of dugout canoes by eastern Native Americans, for which its fine grain and large trunk size is eminently suited.
